All Grown Up!

For once I am not talking about my own tiny tots but instead my little sister who graduated college (IU) yesterday!  Yes, she is my little sister (10 yrs. younger to be exact) but she has become a role model to me and many others who know her as we all watched her tackle her final year of college under a surreal amount of circumstantial pressure.

Giving up was not an option she ever considered, though no one would have blamed her if she had.  No one would have also blamed her had she decided to spend every weekend of her senior year in Kilroy's as opposed to studying, but she didn't do that either.  She blended in like any other college student trying to graduate with a good GPA in order to conquer her personal goals and strive for future success.  Although she was not like any other college student.  Along with a backpack of books she also carried the weight of the world on her shoulders.  But her face was deceptive as she so often sported a happy smile and appeared to have no worries at all except for the occasional stress over an upcoming presentation.  I know her stresses went far deeper; but amazingly so, that smile was often genuine...a true testament to her incredible amount of strength, something that was passed down to her from two of the strongest people I once knew.

To my little sister,

I am beyond proud of you for all of your accomplishments.  I would have given anything for mom and dad to have been there with you yesterday.  I have no doubt that they were smiling down on you with more pride than they have ever felt in their entire lives.  It is a testament to them for raising their last child to be so independently strong and focused.  I am sure I speak for every member of your fan club by saying that you have a very bright future ahead and we are all looking forward to watching it unfold.

Everyone needs a role model, so thank you for being that for so many people.  Continue to do great and great things will come your way.

Love,

Your much older, less academically focused, and more likely to have been found at Kilroys sister

2011 Graduate of the Kelley School of Business!
Courtney and cousin Kristen, also a B school grad!
Since they didn't attend ceremony, they re-enacted the cap toss.
Dad was with us in spirit and also in print thanks to the photo in the B school hallway.  Courtney was mortified to take this picture.  :)

Also, happy Mother's Day to my dear mom who I wish I could celebrate this special day with.

The last picture taken with my mom...at my babyies shower...11-28-2009
And now me celebrating my own Mother's Day with my two little munchkins.
