Christmas/NYE/2011 Recap

I know I'm way behind.  WAY behind.

Christmas 2011 was a huge success!  For starters we were able to wake up in our home...no traveling involved!  That was amazing, not gonna lie.  There's just something about putting your kids in their own beds on Christmas Eve and then sneaking gifts under the tree, and waking up to their smiling faces as brand new toys awaited them.  Their big gift this year was a kitchen set, which they love.  When they walked into the family room and saw it, Di started squealing and then actually had to take a break on the side of the couch she was so overwhelmed!

It's amazing the difference just one year makes.  Last year on Christmas Eve at GG Lila's the girls were little devils. Sad, but true.  They weren't walking yet, hated people, hated noise, weren't into toys, and as for Santa...forget it.  Compared to last year, this year they were angels!  With the exception of Santa of course...he is still on their naughty list.

We also brought back the Seger Christmas Brunch which, even though I'm no longer a Seger, think it needs to retain its name.  Matt and Phil did most of the cooking while the ladies sipped bloody mary's and mimosas.  It was such a good feeling to be back in this house over Christmas!

We celebrated NYE in Columbus at a wedding which was a blast!  So much fun that my head was on the window the entire 6 hr. drive home the next day.  The girls love being at Babci and Dziadziu's house...it's always so hard to leave there.  We also were able to spend some quality time with Special Agents Turks (aka, Mary Beth and Brian) who we rarely get to see due to their silly jobs with a place called the Secret Service.  Ha.  Lucky for us they are relocating from New Jersey to Cincinnati so will now be within driving distance!

There ya have it...Christmas / NYE 2011 in a nutshell!  As for how the year 2011 fared?  Probably the best one I've had in 6 years.  The older the girls get, the cooler they become!  That might not be true, but participating with them in activities is way cooler than just looking at them and coo'ing!  Life without my parents will always be the pits.  But living with fear of the unknown for 5 years was also the pits.  It is undeniable that a weight has been lifted.  We had no major illnesses, no detainment in handcuffs in a major department store, no other major setbacks in life's crazy journey, we made a move that seems to be working for us, and we ended the year feeling uplifted rather than defeated.

2011, thank you.  2012, please be gentle.
