Now that the girls have entered the 11th month, preparations for their 1st birthday party are well under way! The biggest assignment on my 'to do' list? Finish their baby books!
At 11 months, Lil and Di have definitely picked up some new tricks. They can stand on their own (briefly, before the anxiety of knowing they are without a crutch kicks in); however, neither has taken that much anticipated first step. They play a bit more independently and can often be found moving from their favorite chairs to their favorite window in our family room to their favorite toys covering every inch of our house. And those stairs - they LOVE climbing the stairs!
They haven't quite mastered the art of playing 'together' yet, but they do mimic each other all the time! They love to bang things together and 'shake shake shake' their musical instruments. Between me on the drums and each of them with a tambourine, we could have our own little band! There is still a toy thief in our house (LILLY!) and thus creates a lot of the fights. We have been trying to teach her that stealing toys is not acceptable. And her new response to our scolding? Throwing an all out TANTRUM!! Where did she learn this?! It is hysterical to watch (in its newness). She gets really tense and clenches her fists and throws her arms up and down and screams and then leashes out like she is going to hit us! I mean, who wouldn't laugh at that?! I am always faced with a decision to turn my head so she doesn't see me laugh or to not turn my head because I don't want to miss a second of this hilarity. I just hope that Diana chooses not to mimic this irrational behavior, but I have a feeling very soon I will have two tantrum throwing tots on my hands!
Also, at 11 months, Diana has won the teething award with 4 teeth on top and 2 on bottom. Lilly has 2 on top and 2 on bottom. As far as their sleeping, these girls are rockstar sleepers! They sleep 12 hrs. a night (sometimes more!) We still have them in separate rooms and it seems to serve us all much better. I will have to get really creative soon when we make this a permanent decision and need to create a space that is both nursery and guest room friendly. (Nate Berkus, if you read my blog, HELP!)
In other news, I was lucky enough to score a ticket (thanks to uncle Tom) to the disappointing Colts game on Saturday! However, with that came lots of family bonding and "Andy Seger time". Where there is an Andy Seger, there is guaranteed laughter! Just ask our babysitter who got to know Andy WAY too well after we all came tumbling into the house at midnight on Saturday. Let's just say Matt threw in a few bucks extra that night for her troubles!
Andy's entertainment carried on to 8am Sunday morning!
Sweet Lila (who we often are told the girls resemble) all snuggled for a little cat nap!
Like mother like daughter! (Although I am often found READING my US Weekly...not DEVOURING it.)
Lil & Di enjoying a bath then bottle; check out Di's very relaxed position!
