Only 20 more days until Diana and Lilly's 1st birthday! Will they be walking by then?? According to these videos, I think they might be close!
Last Friday I decided to do something I have never done before...take the girls to lunch by myself. Just me and the girls. Lauren, Lilly, Diana. Their four arms to my two. Their four adorably chubby legs that don't quite get the walking thing yet, meaning my two legs are their only means of getting from point A to point B (my reasoning for sort of wanting them to walk!) What did this entail exactly? It was simple actually.
After deciding that carrying the two of them into a McDonalds was not the challenge I was up for, I veered across the street to the mall where there is an enormously loud food court, and where strollers in the aisles would not be shunned upon. So I strapped the girls in the stroller, we headed to the food court, ordered some chicken nuggets, found a long vacant table close to high chairs, grabbed our 1st high chair and put Diana in there, in the meantime was approached by a friend of Audrey's who knew I had to be "Lauren, the mom of twins" (were we that obvious?!) and she was gracious enough to watch the girls while I found another high chair b/c the one Diana was in had broken straps, I brought that high chair over and it too is broken (I was internally cussing at the mall high chair patrol) so now I have to search the entire food court for 2 more high chairs while this totally nice person who I met 30 seconds prior watched my girls. Not exactly sure what I would have done without this unexpected encounter. Leave my kids unsupervised in a mall? Carry 2 kids AND 2 high chairs at the same time? In other words, grandma Dianne was looking after her daughter and granting her some serenity on this day! After getting the girls into functional high chairs, I spent the entire lunch cutting up their food into a million little pieces, think I shoved a few good bites in myself, and then when they started throwing food at neighboring tables, it was time to go! After lunch Matt surprised us at the mall and we let the girls roll around in the germ-free play area (those places are free of germs, right?) All in all, it was a successful outing which we may just have to repeat every Friday!

Diana was being stalked followed by these adorable sisters who could not keep their hands off her!
Meanwhile Lilly was in a rocket to the moon! (Or is it a dolphin?)
On Saturday we went to Cincinnati to celebrate our nephew Evan's 2nd birthday. He had a party on Saturday evening so we got to spend lots of time with dziadziu and babci, cioci Shonda and uncle Tim, cioci Becca and uncle Mark, and of course Evan and Alex! The only reason I listed all those out was because I love thinking about the pronunciations everybody uses to figure out the crazy Polish vocab.
I have to say that this very well may have been the 1st party we have been to since the girls were born that was legitimately enjoyable! No offense to the hosts of other parties we have attended these past 11 months...it has nothing do with you! It just so happens that the girls have hit an AWESOME age! Who knew that a little bit of independence would score Matt and I some time to talk to other adults? Just being able to crawl around and play with other kids while we kept a watchful eye was a big achievement! What is that I see? A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL?!?!

I have no idea why Lilly's cheeks are so red! Daddy's get that way after too many drinks, so Lil might have some explaining to do!
I hope Diana gets this excited at her own birthday party!
I mean, her cheeks are on fire! Why did I not notice this on Saturday?
The birthday boy!!
Our best attempt at a family photo. This is the 1st picture where I would have confused Lil for Di if they both weren't in the picture (or wearing initials on their shirts.) Diana looks like herself (Matt is holding her), but Lilly to me looks just like Diana in this pic. Hard to explain, I know.
I think Becca is amazed at how much little Diana can eat!!
Lilly just eating the foot off some green creepy looking thing.
Of course we brought the wagon to the party so the girls could show off their moves in front of dziadziu and babci!
