Turning Two: Part 2

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY, DIANA AND LILLY!!

DIANA
LILLY

What a year it's been!

Last year on this day Di had just started taking her 1st steps while Lil would still be crawling for another month.  They were waving and clapping and babbling.  They had no interest in their gifts other than eating the wrapping paper.

Today, the girls were running around, climbing, going down slides, and telling me that they wanted "pizza and breadsticks" for dinner (shocking), and that they wanted "Mick, Goof, Pete, Duck, and no no Sabo" at dinner with them.  Obviously they have developed a love for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and a fear of Phil and Krista's dog Sabo (who, unlike our poor pooch, still feels she is capable of receiving love.)  When they (ahem, Lil) opened each gift, they threw it aside and said, "more presents."  Both girls would light up when they saw a new present, but they still weren't all that concerned with what was inside...they just wanted "more, more more!"

I am amazed by how grown up my girls seem.  They understand just about everything and their vocabulary has greatly improved.  There are definitely some cons to this, which I had always been warned about.  Today, en route to Evansville, our conversations went much like this:

"Mama, shoe off."
"Mama, shoe on."
"Mama, look, school bus!  MAMMMMMAAAA...LOOOOOOK...SCHOOL BUS!"
"Mama, snack."
"No mama, no suck, crack."  (Translation for CPS: "I don't want a sucker, I want a cracker.")
"Mama, where's Gaya?  He at work."  (Gaya =  daddy for some God known reason.)
"Mama, I sick."
"Mama, Leah cries.  She need paci."
"Uh oh, Mama, I drop crack."
"Mama, I want book."
"Mama, I farted."
"Mama, look.  MAMA, LOOK.  MAMMMMMMMMMAAAAAA, LOOOOOOOOOOK."
(I would look and one would show me how she covers her mouth when she coughs, and the other would show me how she can put a cheez-it on her tongue and stick it out at me.)

That was all in the span of about 5 minutes.  There was no conversing whatsoever...I was being verbally attacked.

But, I personally think my girls are awesome!  They have their moments, usually one every 4 or 5 minutes, but that is up from every 2 or 3.  They still won't let me leave the room without following, pee by myself, talk on the phone, type on the computer, or essentially do anything that isn't 100% attention on them, and God forbid they don't attach themselves to my leg at every single social outing; but yeah, other than that, they are awesome!  They are still my miracle babies who put a smile on my face every single day, motivate me to better, and remind me of my blessings.  After 2 years I still want to eat their cheeks off...1) because I love them and 2) because those cheeks are as perfectly edible as ever!

Can't wait to see what year 3 has in store for us!!!

Mickey Mouse pancakes made by daddy!
I took the girls to Evansville to play at the mall!
We also went on the choo choo train (along with Audrey, Thomas and Lila!)
After lunch at Chick-fil -A, we capped the afternoon off with a ride around the carousel!
Back at home, time to open presents!
New books!
Di appreciated her new baby doll!  Lil threw it aside and said, "more presents."  I was heartbroken!
Their faces were priceless when they saw their new slide, but I didn't capture them on camera :(
Check out our new magnetic/chalkboard wall!!
Last but not least, mini scooters!  Lil amazed me by her coordination and understanding of how to push the scooter all by herself.
Daddy teaching Di how to ride it...she was eager to learn!
Their DQ ice cream cake.
Blowing out the candles...HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRLS!
All good things must come to an end...Di latched onto Lil's arm in a bitter battle over the slide and left a hefty bite mark!  Lil did not cry but she was NOT happy about it! This was totally out of character for Di, so I am thinking this was a result of 2 years of frustration over Lilly being "The Boss!"
Immediately after bath time the girls darted for the slide.  I am going to a) regret posting this and b) regret having their play room, bedroom and bathroom all on the same level!
